Overview
Research underscores the empirical value of geography education, not just its intrinsic value. Participants in the research roundtable will meet to identify pathways for collaboration, sources of funding, and possibilities for the future of research in geography education. Meet the Presenters
AAG’s Geography Education Specialty Group | Mary Curtis and Thomas Larsen
Thomas Larsen is 2024 President of the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE). He serves as Co-Coordinator of the Geographic Alliance of Iowa (GAI) and teaches geography at the University of Northern Iowa.
Dr. Mary D. Curtis is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in the College of Education where she coordinates the Social Studies teacher preparation program. Dr. Curtis is a geography educator with over 20 years of experience and service from local to international levels. She currently serves as the Vice Chair for the Association of American Geographers Geography Education Specialty Group and as Associate Editor for the Journal of Geography.
